What is the Pupil Premium Grant?

The Pupil Premium is additional funding for publicly funded schools in England to raise the attainment of disadvantaged pupils and close the gap between them and their peers.

It is awarded to children who are eligible for Free School Meals (or who have been in the last six years) Looked After Children and Children from Forces families

How the grant is spent

  • Additional Teaching Assistant Support targetted for pupils in receipt of PPG
  • Subsidised enrichment activities for all pupils in receipt of PPG
  • Subsidised wrap-around Care.
  • Support with provision of School Uniform
  • Educational Resources for use in intervention sessions

Impact

  • The majority of pupils in receipt of PPG made progress in line with age related expectations
  • Pupils in receipt of PPG engaged in after school clubs, care provision and enrichment activities at the same level as other pupils

Future Plans

  • The progress and attainment of our vulnerable pupils is a key priority in our 2017-18 School Development Plan in line with Bedford Borough Local Authority priorities.
  • We are developing a list of key experiences that we would like all our pupils to benefit from and facilitating these for our vulnerable pupils.
