The Year Two teachers are Mrs Meershoek on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday and Mrs Carter on Thursday and Friday. As the oldest children on the Sheerhatch Willington site, they make sure that they set a good example by showing the younger children how to be ‘Ready, Respectful and Safe.’
During the course of the year, we build upon basic sentence writing whilst exploring a range of exciting genres. We also work hard to develop our quick recall of number facts. We use a secure understanding of place value to challenge our mathematical understanding and we try hard to apply our knowledge to solve addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems. We have lots of resources to support our understanding in maths including base 10 equipment, tens frames, part:whole models and numicon. We also explore measurement, fractions (whole, half, quarters and three quarters) and time.
Our topic learning is fun and informative; we have great topic days and trips planned! We also thoroughly enjoy regular sessions in our fantastic outdoor area at the Cople site.
