We are the Kingfishers and we have Mrs Turner as our teacher.
In Kingfishers, we build on our learning to develop bright, curious, and independent minds across an exciting mix of subjects. We work hard to strengthen our skills while having plenty of fun, taking on new challenges, and growing together as a team.
Over the year, our learning takes us on incredible journeys. In history, we step back in time to explore Victorian London, discover Ancient China, and learn about key figures and events in Black History. In geography, we stretch our knowledge across spatial sense, scale local and global mountains, and travel all the way to Australia!
Our scientific investigations cover everything from states of matter, rocks, electricity, and the human body to light, sound, forces, and magnets. In English, we immerse ourselves in fantastic texts like The Twits, Street Child, The Iron Man, The Boy Who Grew Dragons, and the poetry of Michael Rosen. Through these stories, we craft exciting character descriptions, persuasive speeches, debates, instructions, and creative narratives.
For our Year 4 children, we are also working towards our official Multiplication Tables Check (MTC) at the end of the year. This means we take part in lots of fun games and interactive activities to help us build rapid recall and become true times tables experts!
Alongside our core learning, we express our creativity through helmet design, Chinese painting, ceramics, wobble bots, and needlework, while making music inspired by Rock and Roll, Caribbean rhythms, rivers, Vikings, and Romans. We stay active with swimming, gymnastics, dance, hockey, athletics, rounders, cricket, and outdoor adventures, all while learning about different faiths and exploring how we can make our community a more respectful, thoughtful place.
We work hard every day to build on our skills, support one another, and create lasting memories throughout our year in Kingfishers!
