The GROW Programme

At Sheerhatch Primary School, we believe that education is about more than academic achievement. We want every child to develop the confidence, character and social skills needed to thrive in school and beyond.

Our GROW Programme has been designed to support children's personal and social development by explicitly teaching the everyday skills that help them build positive relationships, show respect for others and contribute confidently to their communities.

Every two weeks, the whole school will focus on a specific social skill. These include greeting others politely, showing gratitude, listening carefully, demonstrating good manners, offering help and taking responsibility for our actions.

Through assemblies, classroom discussions, practical activities and everyday interactions, children will have opportunities to learn, practise and demonstrate each skill.

The skills have been carefully selected to reflect the qualities we believe every child should have confidently acquired by the end of Year 6, preparing them for a successful transition to secondary school and life beyond Sheerhatch.

By working together with families to reinforce these important behaviours, we aim to nurture thoughtful, respectful and confident young people who are ready to make a positive difference in the communities in which they live.
