Owls

Hello! We are the Owls. We are the Year Six children of Sheerhatch Primary School and therefore the eldest. Our class teacher is Miss Anthony.  As the most experienced children in the school, we hold important posts including being the House Captains and leaders of the School Council.

The learning in Year Six completes our primary school journey; we are able to draw from and make links to all the valuable learning that has come before. The autumn term begins with the topic It’s All Greek To Me. During this we get to learn about the features of the Ancient Greek civilisation and the contributions that it made to the modern world. This is followed by Violent Earth which builds on previous learning about volcanoes and earthquakes.

The spring term begins with an exploration of the Shang Dynasty before coming much closer to home with a topic all about the history of Bedford. Finally, in the summer term, we will apply our geography skills when building knowledge about the different types of terrain in the British Isles and how these are used. Widening the focus in the final topic of the year, we will look at the distribution of food, energy and other resources in the world and develop our understanding of some of the issues surrounding these.
